Patti Smith, integra el estilo de la poesía beat, al emergente movimiento punk que desafía la rigidez de todo convencionalismo social; mujer de figura androgina y actitud retadora en la era “disco”; fue nombrada en el año 2005 Comandante de la Orden de las Artes y las Letras de Francia.
